When the eCommerce and Online Gaming Regulation and Assurance organization (eCOGRA) announced in May that it was aiming to award 24 more online casinos its “Play it Safe” seal of satisfaction, it gave itself until the end of 2006 to do so. Recently eCOGRA was delighted to announce that it had reached its 100 online casinos target and was already well on its way to awarding 107 online casinos with the prestigious award. What makes this fact even more inspiring is that the target was reached several months ahead of time.

eCOGRA maintains that it managed to reach this impressive figure due to the fact that more and more online casinos are taking the issue of high standards seriously. An eCOGRA seal is a prestigious award to display on any site, but online casinos need to work extremely hard to be awarded one. If they are able to pass the organization’s strict level of standards pertaining to all matters of online gambling, online casinos will eventually be awarded the seal.

Online casinos that manage to reap an eCOGRA award aren’t able to drop their standards once they have the title. These online casinos are subject to continuous monitoring and inspections to see that they maintain the high standards set, and eCOGRA has been known to revoke its seals, albeit temporarily.
